Koi life span
Koi can have quite a long life span. A story has been told that one fish living in a Japanese monastery, where it seems they can monitor this sort of thing, lived to be over 200 years of age. Some of the Koi that were exhibited at the 1914 Tokyo Exhibition are still swimming around the Imperial Palace today. Unfortunately, the average life span of a Koi when it leaves the shop and goes to its new home is 12 weeks. Lighting to your Koi pond
Lights generate heat, and heat is another factor to consider when designing a Koi pond. You will need to determine the size of the lights in your pond by the size of the pond. The bigger the pond, the bigger the lights you can have, and vice versa. Regardless of the size, be sure to purchase lights that generate as little heat as possible for your koi pond.
